What Is NOT NULL Constraint In SQL?

  • The table column in database can store NULL values by default.
  • SQL NOT NULL constraint prevents insertion NULL value in a table column.

Example: MySQL

CREATE TABLE country
(
country_id BIGINT(11),
country_name VARCHAR(200) NOT NULL,
country_location VARCHAR(200) NOT NULL,
country_zipcode INT(60)
);

Note:

  • We add two NOT NULL constraints in above table’s country_name and country_location.
