C# is Operator

  • This operator checks whether an object is of a specified type / class or not.
  • It returns result in bool such as true or false.

Example:

using System;
namespace csharpBasic
{
  // Start class definition / declaration.
    class Program
    {
      // Static main method void type declaration.
        static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            // Declare bool type variable.
            bool result;

            // An object of Test class is being created.
            Test objTest = new Test();

            // In this statement the (is) operator checks if (objTest) is a type of Test class.
            result = objTest is Test;

            // Print result.
            Console.WriteLine(result);
            Console.ReadKey();

        } // End of main method definition.

    } // End of class.

    class Test
    {

    }
}
